Design
- I developed a survey with the internet software "Survey Monkey". I then introduced the survey in a faculty meeting. I told them about the survey on Accelerated Reader and I asked them to participate. I sent a link to the survey via email to all certified faculty at the school. I had to send out one reminder email requesting their help. Sixty Eight people responded to the survey.
Participants
- I recruited the participants of my survey by asking for their participation at a faculty meeting. I insured confidentiality of their responses. I also told them the survey would take about 5 - 10 minutes.
- All kindergarten - 5th grade regular education and special education teachers were asked to participate.
- Sixty eight people responded to the survey.
Data Collection Story
- I developed the survey with the internet software "Survey Monkey". I developed the questions for the survey from the research literature I found regarding Accelerated Reader. Seventeen of the questions I developed were Likert scale questions. Two of the questions were open-ended. I also wrote what I was going to say in my introduction to the survey at the faculty meeting.
Data Source
- The data source was the survey results.
Analysis
- I got the results from my survey on Survey Monkey. I downloaded the data into an excel file and made new graphs to represent each survey question. I also organized the open-ended responses by sorting each response into categories: positive AR, negative AR, neither positive nor negative AR, or both positive and negative AR. I made a graph of the open-ended responses. I analyzed all of the results by looking at the highest percentage answers. Dependant on the question, I also looked at the 2 highest percentage answers and comments that correlated with certain questions.
